2 Day Bundu Backpackers Hiking Trail

Min: 4 Pax
Maximum: 10 Pax

2-Day Bundu Backpackers Hiking Trail
Experience the beauty of nature on a true Bundu adventure.

You will need to bring your own small tent to camp for one night in an indigenous forest beside a stream. The first night will be spent at The Stables, where you can enjoy a braai around a campfire in a boma.

Day 1:
Embark on a challenging 5-6 hour hike with your backpack and tent, descending into the Bankspruit Gorge to reach the camping spot. This is a genuine bundu experience in the indigenous woods, where you can set up your tent next to the stream. Please note that there are no facilities—just the bush, providing a unique opportunity for a deeper connection with nature and your friends around the campfire. During the summer months, a refreshing swim in the nearby natural pool will be a welcome treat after the strenuous hike.

Day 2:
Continue with a challenging 4-hour hike along the Bankspruit to the stunning Uitkoms Waterfall (also known as the Bridal Falls). After taking in the beauty of the waterfall, you will tackle the uphill trek back to The Stables, where you can enjoy a hot shower before heading home.

Oom Paul Hiking Trail

Min 4 Pax

Day 1: 10km
Day 2: 10km

Trail Description: Days 1 and 2

The 2-day circular trail involves walking between Bermanzi (The Stables 1 or 2) and the Aloe Kaya Camp, all within the private farms of Poppieskroon and Bermondsey in the Skurweberg area of Mpumalanga. This hike includes some extended and steep climbs.
You can start your hike from either the Bermanzi Berg Resort, where you will stay at The Stables, or from The Escarpment Trail, where you will stay at the Aloe Kaya Hut. The Oom Paul route is particularly challenging, especially if you choose to backpack, and should not be underestimated due to its steep ascents and descents. Sturdy hiking boots are essential for this trek. Along the way, you will encounter ladders and bridges, some of which may be daunting for those who are less experienced. A moderate to high level of fitness is required for this hike. It is an unusual trail that offers spectacular views, but should not be taken lightly by casual hikers.
